some might say that margaret is proud of being a peasant. those people would be dead wrong about her. the fact that her taxes are high enough to leave herself and her family in destitution is nothing to be proud of. margaret is prouder of the fields that she helps plant every season and every bit of bread that she didn't have to steal. there's dignity in working for your next meal, but none to be derived from dying in the ditches like a dog. she doesn't like the system, but there is no real alternative that she can see. for the moment, she is (dis)content to simply snap at the privileged in the privacy of her home or sympathetic company. generally. she has been known to cause scenes in public before.
there are some skills that can't be learnt from leather-bound tomes. margaret is illiterate and unschooled, but by no means does she lack good sense.
she's a quick study with practical skills, and her patience can be almost limitless with the tasks at hand. it's people that happen to shorten her fuse.
