KNIGHT - NOBILITY
FRENCH
PLAYED BY MONDE
BACKGROUND & PERSONALITY
+strong-willed, clever, resilient, observant, eloquent, honorable, calm, charismatic
-bitter, cynical, aloof, sarcastic, proud, brooding, vengeful, self-destructive
born the illegitimate son of a french duke, edmond lived in relative obscurity until the age of four. barely more than a toddler, he was grudgingly acknowledged by his father, desperate for an heir; the only child the man had by his wife had died in infancy, and she could no longer bear children without miscarrying.
stripped away from the brief life he had known among the castle's servants, edmond rose in status overnight, subjected to learning all that was required of a lord's son. he was taught the scholarly arts, educated in the languages of the world; and when he was old enough, the art of the sword. he was forbidden to see his mother.
when the boy was nearing the end of his days as a squire and showing promise of being a skilled knight, the duke's wife died, and the moment he had grieved for the appropriate period of time he replaced her with a new, young wife nearly of age with edmond. the girl bore a son, and edmond soon became a burden.
once the heir to a duke, it soon was made clear that edmond would never rise above knighthood. he was knighted, and then sent by his lord father on a fool's errand-- one that he would never be able to complete. he has since more or less become a knight-errant,

MAGICAL ABILITIES, WEAPONRY
whispering an ability that edmond has kept secret from everyone (save for a slip of the tongue as a young child to his friend louis). in his youth he often snuck off to speak with the hounds, and even now he takes comfort in the company of beasts, particularly dogs.
medisant a sleek, elegant sword of the highest caliber, medisant was a gift from edmond's father for his 19th birthday, shortly before the death of the duchess. it has a gleaming, thin steel blade, with razor sharp edges and a black and silver hilt, as well as a small carving of a fleur-de-lis on the pommel. a reminder of better days.

FIGHTING STYLE
edmond, having studied under the best his father could afford and being of natural talent, in addition to having squired under a fine chevalier, is a very skilled knight. his movements are usually sharp, with a predatory elegance that comes naturally to him. preferring lighter weaponry than most knights, he is often described as quick-thinking and agile in the midst of combat, having unusually controlled movements for a man so young.
as a consequence, while his ability to deliver a pack quite the punch should not be questioned, he is not as immense in strength as the average knight, relying slightly more on momentum to deliver to damage he intends. since he cannot afford to take as many crushing blows as he'd like, edmond is forced to rely on his quickness to survive a fight.
